He made his acting debut in 1991 as part of KBS's 14th talent group and quickly rose to fame with his performances in notable films and television series. His breakthrough role came in the 2000 film "Joint Security Area," which was followed by acclaimed projects such as "A Bittersweet Life" (2005), "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" (2008), and the gripping thriller "I Saw the Devil" (2010).
